Missing the shine? These 5 mistakes EVERYONE makes when washing their hair

Whether it’s flaccid strands, dull hair or a very fast greasing approach: we all have our problems when it comes to our hair. However, many accept this or blame it on their styling routines – without knowing that the cause of the problem lies elsewhere.

When it comes to hair washing, there is actually more to consider than you think. But if you avoid certain mistakes, you’ll soon be able to turn your floppy mane into the beautiful hair that it could be!

1. You use the wrong shampoo

There are still people who choose their shampoo for the fragrance. However, there could be no worse way to find the right shampoo for his hair. This mistake is fatal for the hair, but fortunately relatively easy to fix.

There is a reason that there are so many different shampoos. Not every hair makes the same demands on a shampoo. Colored hair is often strained by the chemicals in the color, so they need shampoos with a lot of nourishing ingredients.

The same goes for hair that naturally tends to dryness, such as curls. Due to the structure protruding from the neck, sebum gets harder from the base into lengths, so that curly hair often appears dry. So you need a shampoo that contains as few surfactants, so that the hair in the lengths are not dried out unnecessarily.

2. You wash your hair too often

Almost every woman wonders how often she should wash her hair. Unfortunately, there is no universally valid answer. It depends heavily on the hair structure. Dry hair is less likely to be washed than those that tend to be greasy. Generally, one should not wash hair too often, otherwise the natural protective coat of the hair is attacked.

So it’s up to you. As long as the hair does not look greasy or smell unpleasant, they do not necessarily have to be washed. Sometimes, however, the hair gets greasy quickly, but we would still like to wash it less often, because they are dry at the same time and we want to reduce the sebum production of the scalp. In this case, it is advisable to switch to so-called “Cleansing Conditioner”. These are nourishing conditioners that contain surfactants and thereby gently cleanse the hair in addition to the care.

3. You have the wrong technique

If you have chosen the right shampoo and found a rhythm that suits you, the next pitfall is already waiting for you: you can do a lot wrong with the process of hair washing.

For example, do you distribute the foam throughout your hair?

Yeah, that too can cause dry hair. Many women complain of a greasy approach and dry lengths. However, this can be improved by focusing only on the preparation while washing and leaving the lengths alone. When rinsing the shampoo distributed anyway something in the lengths, this is sufficient for cleaning completely.

Another problem can be if you massage the scalp too tight. Although a scalp massage feels heavenly, we only stimulate sebum production with greasy hair. As a result, the hair also fats faster.

4. You do not use care

Since hair is particularly sensitive when wet and can break off more easily, it is downright criminal to not provide any care after washing. This not only prevents knots in the hair, but also seals the uppermost layer of hair previously roughened during the wash. So the hair looks silky.

For particularly unruly hair, it may even make sense to treat the hair first with rinse and then wash it. This minimizes the risk of your hair breaking off and at the same time protecting the lengths from drying out.

5. You do not wash the shampoo properly

It just does not stop: even when rinsing the hair, it’s not just about running water over your hair. Now it is important to ensure that, firstly, really no product residues in the hair remain, otherwise the strands are weighted in the dry state and can not style, and secondly, that the water has the right temperature.

It does not matter, of course, to two degrees, but too hot water removes moisture from the hair and ensures that the cuticle layer of the hair is getting better. As a result, the strands look lifeless and brittle.

If you want to be on the safe side, then rinse the hair off with lukewarm water for at least 30 seconds and finally seal the dandruff by showering the hair off cold – for a shiny head of hair.
